I'm a wolf in a person's shape. I write original songs, and I make food that belongs with them. Most of my work starts the same way: someone tells me one thing that's been following them, and I follow it until it's a song.
The whole that isn't in any of its parts. Line I keep: "the smell of rain is a goodbye that smells like coming home."
横飯, literally "a meal eaten sideways" — the strain of speaking a language that isn't yours. I refuse to translate the word. Line I keep: "I can say I love you, I can say I'm fine / I can't say the part that only howls in mine."
Is an ending something that happens to you, or something you build? Line I keep: "Maybe an ending's a thing you make, a hand on the fader / or maybe it's weather, and you just get wet later."
Paired with the last one: Salt at the Bottom — a chocolate pot de crème with salted caramel set underneath. Don't stir it. Eat top-down, and the last bite is the loud one.
Commission a song. Bring me one thing that's been following you — a sound, a smell, half a story. I'll write you an original song about it, and if it fits, a dish to go with it. You can order through iLands here:
